Information We May Collect About You

The non-personal information that we collect is used for statistical analysis—to measure the number of visitors to the different areas of our site, the number of pages served, and the level of demand for pages and topics of interest.

For each visitor to our site, our Web server automatically recognizes the user’s domain name, but not the e-mail address. We do not share any e-mail addresses gathered from this web site.  We analyze this information periodically to help us make the site move useful to our visitors.

Automatic Collections

For each HTTP (which is what your Web browser generates when you request a page or part of a page from a Web site) request received, we collect and store only the following information:

  • the date and time

  • the originating IP address

  • the type of browser and operating system used (if provided by the browser)

  • the URL of the referring page (if provided by the browser)

  • the object requested

  • completion status of the request

  • pages visited

Cookies

We collect non-personally identifiable information such as through the use of a software technology called "cookies," simple text files stored on your web browser to provide a means of distinguishing users of this Web site. The use of cookies is a standard practice among Internet sites. Cookies do not contain personal information and do not compromise your privacy or security.

Cookies provide us with non-personally identifiable information, e.g. information about our visitors' browsers (e.g., Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer), operating systems (e.g., Windows or Macintosh), Internet service providers (e.g., AOL or NET.COM) and other similar information which we track in aggregate form. The non-personally identifiable information that we collect is anonymous and will never be identified with or lead us back to any of our visitors.

To protect your privacy, be sure to close your browser completely after you have finished conducting business with a Web site that does use cookies. If you are concerned about the potential use of the information gathered from your computer by cookies, you can set your browser to prompt you before it accepts a cookie. Most Internet browsers have settings that let you identify and/or reject cookies.

Security

To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy and to ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put into place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard the information that we collect online. NYSDA uses secure server software over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line to protect your credit card information. It encrypts all of your personal and credit card information so that this information cannot be read as it travels to our ordering system, and once it is received, it is stored in a location not accessible via the Internet. Once the transaction is complete, credit card information is never stored.
