The New York State Dental Association believes education is the backbone of the dental profession. From dental school through your most experienced years in practice, you will always encounter something new to learn.
The understanding that oral health is vital to overall health creates opportunities for dentists. Technology is ever-changing and constantly expanding the practice of dentistry. Continuing education past dental school is critical for these and many other reasons including patient safety, hygiene and infection control.
Advancing knowledge and staying a “step ahead of the curve” is very valuable to dentists and their practices. A patient wants to feel confident in their choice of practitioner. A dentist that believes in education instills that confidence.
At the national, state and local levels, member dentists will find a wide range of continuing education opportunities. Dentists licensed in New York must complete at least 60 credit hours of continuing education every three years. NYSDA keeps track of these credit hours, helping dentists organize their license renewal process.
The NYSDA continuing education transcript is official and accepted by the New York State Education Department.
