New York is the first state to make provider compliance programs mandatory in an effort to reduce fraud, waste and abuse in New York’s Medicaid program. The new requirements, effective as of July 1, 2009, principally affect Article 28 facilities and offices submitting claims or receiving reimbursement from Medicaid of at least $500,000 annually.
