In an effort to combat opioid abuse, Governor Cuomo signed a bill limiting the prescribing of schedule II, III and IV to 7 days.
NYSDA Endorsed Vendor, MLMIC, to join Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company (“MLMIC”), the largest underwriter of medical professional liability insurance in New York, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement, pending regulatory and policyholder approval, to be acquired by National Indemnity Company, following the completion of the conversion of MLMIC to a stock company from a mutual company.
Updated ACA Manadate goes into effect July, 18, 2016
Attention Medicaid and CHIP Providers If your practice receives reimbursement from Medicaid or SCHIP, you are subject to a new regulation that goes into effect on July 18, 2016. The new rule, issued by the federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR), implements Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). While the rule is “new”, it implements requirements in an existing law. It prohibits health care entities that receive certain federal financial assistance, including Medicaid, from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
