Meet Your Panelists

Dr. Maurice Edwards – NYSDA President-Elect
Dr. Edwards runs his private practice and is active in the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), New York State Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (NYSSOMS) and the New York Society of Forensic Dentistry. He serves as faculty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at NYU College of Dentistry and Mount Sinai. Dr. Edwards played a critical role in dental forensics following 9/11, aiding in victim identification. He earned his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency at NYU and Bellevue Hospital.

Hon. Craig Walker – Justice, NYS Supreme Court
Justice Walker, a Brooklyn native and Navy veteran, has a distinguished career in law. After serving in the Navy during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, he earned his law degree from Hofstra University. He has held various judicial positions, including Presiding Judge of the new Youth Part, in Brooklyn Supreme Court, overseeing felony cases involving juveniles under the “Raise the Age” legislation. Elected to the NYS Supreme Court in 2022, he continues to serve in Kings County.

Eric Gonzalez – Brooklyn District Attorney
Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez made history in 2017 as New York’s first Latino District Attorney. A Brooklyn native and career prosecutor, he has led initiatives to enhance equity and justice while reducing reliance on incarceration. Under his leadership, Brooklyn saw a decline in violent crime, even amidst national challenges. DA Gonzalez, a Cornell University and University of Michigan Law School graduate, remains committed to progressive prosecution and community engagement.
